Stella for the Bella!
Great little spot we found by the high line. Looks dark from the outside, but they’ve got a great rooftop space.
Service here was great too. The bartender recommended the lovely Dogfish IPA to my friend and I had a few of the Coney Island Pilsners.
Played banger after banger as well.

The bartender was off-putting and unfriendly and it felt like she was intentionally watering down our drinks (I saw her pour other drinks quite heavy handed, and we were only one drink in so it was unrelated to excessive inebriation). Prices are okay but you’re paying for half a shot and a cup of ice and club soda for most of the mixed drinks. Crowd wasn’t too diverse but the DJ was fun. Not a dancing place necessarily and the crowd was a bit older (Thursday night). If the drinks were stronger and matched what you pay, and had more enthusiastic service, this place would be a hit! It has a good set up and lighting.

(Brass) Monkey Bouncer
Absolutely appalling experience at Brass Monkey, and it all comes down to the bouncer with the strong African accent. His ignorance and rudeness are staggering. He turned away a member of our party, claiming that the star on their ID was suspicious. Seriously? Does he not understand that Real IDs in New York have a star on them?
It’s beyond comprehension that someone so clueless is working the door. When we rightfully questioned his judgment, he went off the rails, screaming at us like a wild animal. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable for a bar trying to maintain a decent reputation.
The owner needs to seriously reconsider having this individual on staff. His behavior is not just embarrassing but a liability. I can’t stress enough how poorly we were treated, and I will never return. If you value respect and professionalism, stay far away from this place!

Loved that this bar had multiple levels and rooftop! Was really cool sitting outside on the roof on a nice night. Plenty of space for groups and a bar is on the rooftop so you dont need to walk downstairs. Was a really chill vibe liked here a lot!

Walking downtown along the Hudson to start the Highline and we wanted a little fortitude before we got going (ha! Ha!) and found the Brass Monkey nestled in sweetly below the Whitney/Highline entry. What a lovely quintessential cocktail bar and such friendly service! We had the Mexican ginger and first line cocktail - and my husband followed up with a local IPA (Dog fish head!) and all drinks were tip top! What a find!! Thanks BM team :)

A very cool bar in the meat packing district with three floors, each with its own bar. Service is top-shelf and the bar has a great old-school vibe with lots of exposed beams, brass, and brick walls. Be sure and check out the rooftop bar! We showed up when they were closing but they stayed open for us since we had driven here to check out the bar. The manager Homero went over and beyond to make us feel welcome and told us about the bar's history. Be sure and try out the fish or shrimp tacos, or the cheeseburger if you're in the mood to eat some good food. The Brass Monkey is now one of our favorite bars here in NYC.

Went to the rooftop on Monday night and was treated disrespectfully by one of the lady waitresses. I started asking her questions about the menu but she clearly did not care and would not even look at me. Her colleague did not bring us the beer we ordered from him and we had to go get it ourselves.
I literally tipped way too much (18%). I have had much better experiences in NYC where I tipped nothing or less, so I regret it even more that I tipped without receiving any service at all. For anyone coming here, tip after you have received your service, otherwise you might end up being treated in a way you do not appreciate.
However, the staff downstairs was really nice, including the bouncer.
Food is obviously overpriced for what you get, but considering the area where the bar is located, this is probably the norm.
